My journey into open source software began in the month of december 2017. I alwaays tried algorithms learnt different concepts in computer science but never understood the actual implementation of these concepts. Then I came across github and foss. Looking at large codebases made me understand the real life implementation of various concepts and also how large codebases with thousands or lakhs of lines of code actually works. In the month of February 2017 I came to know about GSoC and its importance which acted as a driving forcecontribute more and it gave a sense of competition to work.
